If you’re thinking of splurging on that cab ride to the airport, hopefully you’re in Buenos Aires – which boasts the cheapest taxi ride in the world.
A recently published list, in the form of an infographic by a team at U.K.-based Cheapflights Media, gives the average time and price from the city to the airport in cities around the globe.
According to the study, the 40-minute trip from Ministro Pistarini International Airport in Buenos Aires to the nearby neighborhood of Palermo is priced at the cheapest airport-to-home cab ride in the world at $9.76 per kilometer (or .62 miles).
But hailing a taxi in San Francisco can cost you a pretty penny. A 26 minute ride from the airport to Fisherman’s Wharf costs $56.51 or $2.20 per kilometer.
In Europe, a 23-minute cab journey in Berlin will cost $41.96 or $3.50 per kilometer. While London ranks alongside Barcelona as the cheapest, at $2.10 per kilometer.
The visual study, titled “From The Airport To The City: Taxi Fares Around The World” reads: “Whether you’re brimming with excitement or feeling groggy and in need of a shower (or both), it’s always helpful to know how you’re going to get from the airport to your hotel, hostel or apartment – and how much it will cost you.”
Broken into continents, the graphic separates each region of the world into cities with the most and least expensive rides. It also includes helpful tips such as “few taxi drivers work during rush hour” in Beijing, China.
